Q. My fiance and I just realized that we've scheduled our wedding during the World Series. Now he wants to put a television in one of the rooms at the reception hall. I am horrified by the thought, but he says his friendsall die-hard baseball fanswon't come otherwise. What should we do?
A. Welcome to the first of many obstacles you're sure to face as a married couple. A wedding reception is a special occasion and should take precedence over a baseball game, so stand your ground and refuse to allow a television in the next room. As for your fiancé and his sports-obsessed pals, I have one word: Tivo! While they won't be able to enjoy the excitement of a live game, they can at least watch the action at a more convenient time.
Sure, a few people may sneak out of your party for a quick check of the score by calling their friends at home, but that's no big deal as long as guests are discreet about it.
