Use a Simple Design: Cut down on embellishment for a bigger payoff. Wedding photography duo Dawn and Bob Davis advise, “When you look back at your album you won’t want to see outdated trends—keep your album timeless.”
Select Your Matte Style: If your pages are white, matte as many photos as you’d like with a cardstock that complements your wedding’s décor. If your pages are patterned, Rebecca Ludens, About.com’s resident scrapbooking expert, recommends matting every photo with solid cardstock.
Keep Borders Even: The magic number is 1/8th of an inch, says Ludens, who suggests aligning photos with the top left corner of the cardstock, leaving that much room on the top and left side. Using a paper trimmer to cut, leave an 1/8th of an inch of cardstock on the bottom and right sides as well.
Write or Type Captions: For handwritten captions, use a photo-safe, acid-free journaling pen that won’t fade or bleed. Another option is to design captions on the computer so you can match the font to the invitations, menu or another memento from the day.
