Q. Should my fiance and I plan a full set of activities for our guests to participate in over the weekend?
A. Don't feel that you have to schedule every minute of the weekend or plan a long roster of events for your guests. But do make them aware of notable local attractions, says Linda Matzkin of Hopple Popple in Boston: "Help familiarize your guests with the area and what it offers, but don't overplan their days." Marianne Weiman-Nelson suggests organizing yoga classes, hikes or boat rides, or a walking tour, as she did at a client's recent wedding in St. Petersburg, Russia. "We took a private, guided tour of the State Hermitage Museum and also planned an evening trip to one of the winter palaces in the town of Pushkin." Guests will always appreciate the kind of activities that take advantage of the area or introduce them to something new, says Gregoli, who recommends setting up such events as an Italian cooking class with a local chef in Ravello, Italy, or dinner at Rick's Cafe, a world-famous bar in Negril, Jamaica.
