Q. How do I find talented and reliable people to do my hair and makeup? I want to be sure I'm in capable hands.
A. Planners say finding a good hairstylist can be tough, especially on a small island, so start by asking the concierge at your hotel for a recommendation. (Some resorts even have reputable salons in-house.) To ensure great results ask your stylist back home do a trial run and take pictures of you from every angle so you can show them to the person who will do your hair on your wedding day. Use the same approach with your makeup, says JoAnn Gregoli. "Go to a department store makeup counter, have your makeup done, have pictures taken, buy the products they used on you and take them with you." Weiman-Nelson adds that if you plan to get a manicure and pedicure once you arrive at your location, bring the nail polish colors you want to wear rather than assume the salon will have similar shades. Finally, says Gregoli, "On some Caribbean islands, the salons' time management can be loose. If they say it will take two hours, allow four."
