Q. What hidden costs are we likely to incur if we have a destination wedding, that we wouldn't have at home?
A. If you are getting married in a remote location where you might be unable to find the kinds of linens or flowers you want, you may decide to ship them there ahead of time, which can be pricey. (Rob Smith of Laurels Custom Flora and Events in L.A. says you can avoid that by picking a venue that's beautiful on its own and doesn't require much decoration.) Also, many planners suggest taking a photographer with you, which means you will be responsible for her airfare and hotel room for two or three nights. After all, you don't want to be disappointed with the photos, which will be the permanent record of the event. Bringing in a photographer and in some cases a florist, videographer and DJ will add several thousand dollars to the cost, says Napa, Calif., planner Sasha Souza.
