For cocktail receptions, often times I suggest a couple of broad design strokes verses lot so of the little elements around the room. We constructed two manzanita trees with hand-strung hyacinth blooms tied to the branches. The manzanita is sprayed black for dramatic effect and the base of the tree is a lush mound of peonies and hyacinth. Not only is this piece striking but it has movement in the breeze and a beautiful fragrance.
