Willa Ford knew that getting involved with a professional hockey player would entail hanging out with the boys. She just didn't expect it to begin on her very first date with Dallas Stars center Mike Modano. "It was a bit of a test," admits Modano, who took the Dancing with the Stars alum to a steak dinner with a dozen male friends. "I thought, If she can handle those guys and be herself, she can handle me."

Four years later, Modano discovered that scoring goals is easy compared with popping the question. After spending a day working up his nerve, he presented Ford with a 5-carat round solitaire encircled with pavé diamonds.
